On June 4th our Year 3 and Year 4 classes visited the “Isola della Cona” Natural Reserve, located at the mouth of the Isonzo river. The reserve, with its 2300 hectares, develops along the final 15 kilometers of the river. It is one of the largest wetlands in the northern Adriatic region, a paradise for waterfowl, attracting thousands of birds belonging to over 300 different species.

Both classes had the opportunity to participate not only in a guided tour of the Reserve, but also in a workshop entitled “Life in the ponds”, dedicated to the rich variety of animal and plant organisms, some invisible to the naked eye. The participants collected water samples and then analyzed them using some lenses. The information obtained was then collected in didactic sheets.

Science and biology in the open air, the perfect way to end the school year on a high note!
